Merit Medical to acquire Thomas Medical for $167M

Merit Medical Systems, a manufacturer and marketer of proprietary disposable devices used primarily in cardiology, radiology and endoscopy, has entered into a stock purchase agreement to acquire Thomas Medical Products from GE Healthcare in a $167 million all-cash transaction, subject to customary post-closing adjustments.

NEOMED Institute aims to renew biopharmaceutical research in Québec

AstraZeneca Canada and Pfizer Canada are forming a partnership with the Québec government to create the NEOMED Institute, a new kind of life sciences research center. A total of $100 million will be invested to establish and support the research center over five years.
