Oncobiologics signs two agreements worth $80 million

Oncobiologics has signed two major agreements. The first is with Parilis Biopharmaceuticals, an early-stage biotech company, and involves worldwide licensing for an undisclosed biotherapeutic product. The second is with a US based pharmaceutical company to conduct research focused on solving issues related to downstream processing of monoclonal antibodies. The identity of the client firm was not disclosed due to confidentiality terms in the agreement. The combined value of the agreements to Oncobiologics totals close to $80 million.

Echo Therapeutics launches diabetes study

Echo Therapeutics has initiated a clinical study of its Symphony tCGM System in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The company expects to complete and announce the results of the study in the fourth quarter, and plans to subsequently begin a separate study in critical care patients.

IDRI awarded $300k grant for TB vaccine clinical program

The Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) has been awarded a two-year $300,000 grant from The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation to support IDRI's launch of a phase I clinical trial of its new tuberculosis vaccine known as ID93/GLA-SE.  The phase I trial will evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of ID93/GLA-SE in a group of healthy volunteers, and is expected to begin in early 2012.
