IRX Therapeutics relocates creating 280 jobs in Florida

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Gov. Rick Scott has reported the relocation of IRX Therapeutics, a clinical stage biotechnology company, to St. Petersburg from New York City by the year's end.  The company will staff more than 280 positions within five years at a projected minimum average wage of $90,000 annually.

The Parkinson's Disease Foundation welcomes 27 new members to its national network of research advocates who are influencing research and speeding the development of new and effective treatments for Parkinson's.  This week in New Jersey, the members from the Northeast region are completing an intensive three-day training to prepare them to join the network, known as Parkinson's Advocates in research.

goBalto secures Series A financing

goBalto, developer of new generation web-based clinical research solutions, has raised an undisclosed amount in Series A financing from Silicon Valley-based health technology investors Aberdare Ventures and the West Health Investment Fund. The funds will be used to expand goBalto's corporate activities and to enhance Tracker, its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) clinical trials platform that was launched in June 2011.

Oncothyreon advances to phase II of PX-866 trial

Oncothyreon it has initiated the phase II portion of  its ongoing phase I/II trial of PX-866 in combination with the chemotherapeutic agent  docetaxel (Taxotere) following successful completion of the phase I dose escalation portion  of the study. PX-866 is a small molecule compound designed to inhibit  the activity of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI-3K), a component of  an important cell survival signaling pathway.
