Encorium Acquisition Leads to CEO Move, COO Departure

ICON Reports Growth in Revenues, Income and EPS

Dublin, Ireland-based ICON gave shareholders a triple dose of good news yesterday with its second quarter 2009 earnings release. Revenues, income and earnings per share were all up compared to last year.  Net revenues increased $1.7 million to $220 million and net income jumped $4 million to $22.8 million or 38 cents per share on a diluted basis.

PPD’s Revenues Fall, Earnings Boosted by Piedmont Sale

Wilmington, N.C.-based PPD's second quarter revenues fell nearly $50 million to $355.2 million, but its earnings per share were boosted by the sale of its subsidiary, Piedmont Research Center, which was part of the company's discovery sciences segment.

India's drug regulator, the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), issued draft rules mandating the registration of clinical research organizations that conduct human studies on drugs, cosmetics and medical devices.

Chiltern Acquisitions Contribute to 44% Revenue Increase
