Covance has announced two key additions to its clinical development services scientific leadership team with the appointments of Robert Wasserman, M.D., as vice president and global therapeutic area head, oncology, and Rogelio Mosqueda-Garcia, M.D., Ph.D., as global vice president, early clinical services within medical and scientific affairs. Both are based in Princeton, N.J.
PTC Therapeutics has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Robert J. Spiegel, M.D., FACP, to chief medical officer and Murad Husain to vice president, Global Regulatory Affairs. PTC also announced the promotions of Joseph Colacino, Ph.D., to senior vice president, Drug Discovery and Ernest R. Dietel to senior vice president, Quality. In addition, Jay Barth, M.D., senior vice president of Clinical Development, is leaving PTC to pursue other opportunities.
New Jersey has announced a financial hiring incentive to employers through the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD) if they hire and train former pharmaceutical industry employees. Employers willing to hire displaced pharmaceutical workers may reduce the cost to train new employees under this new on-the-job training program, which will reimburse each employer up to between 50% and 90% of a new hire’s salary for up to six months and a maximum of $14,000
DART Therapeutics, a Cambridge, Mass.-based new-model biotechnology firm focused on developing therapies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), has appointed an executive team. Members include co-founder and executive chairman Eugene W. Williams with the new title of CEO, Ernest D. Bush, PhD, as chief scientific officer., Dr. Elliot Goldstein as chief medical officer, and Cabot Brown as chief financial officer.
