The true cost of cancer drugs is 30% less than a decade ago, once longevity and quality of life are considered, according to a Cornell University researchers based on a study, A Quality-Adjusted Price Index for Colorectal Cancer Drugs, released by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), a national network of five hospitals that specialize in the treatment of patients fighting complex or advanced-stage cancer, has appointed Maurie Markman, M.D., president of the company’s Medicine & Science unit, where he will be responsible for advancing the organization’s overall commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, safety and patient satisfaction. Markman was senior vice president of Clinical Affairs and national director of Medical Oncology at CTCA.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has announced the appointment of Giuseppe Del Priore, M.D., MPH as the national director of gynecologic oncology. Based out of the CTCA Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Georgia, Del Priore will oversee the organization’s national gynecologic oncology practice.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $25 million to establish a Center for Brains, Minds and Machines at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The center is one of three new research centers funded this year through NSF’s Science and Technology Centers: Integrative Partnerships program.
