Lewis “Lou” Von Thaer named Battelle’s president and CEO

Battelle’s Board of Directors announced that Lewis “Lou” Von Thaer has been selected as president and CEO of Battelle, the 9th CEO in the company’s 87-year history. Von Thaer, who has extensive leadership experience in diverse markets, including engineering, intelligence and other federal contracting sectors, will officially begin his new role on October 1, 2017. He comes to Battelle from DynCorp International where he has served as CEO since July 2015.

Genetic and genomic lab testing creates 116,000 U.S. jobs

Driven by rapid innovation made possible in large part by the mapping of the human genome, genetic and genomic clinical laboratory testing generates 116,000 U.S. jobs and contributes $16.5 billion annually to the U.S. economy, according to a new report by the Battelle Memorial Institute.  Because this industry sector is still in the early stages of development, according to the report, much future growth is expected to occur.
