AHAF awards 22 grants for innovative Alzheimer’s research

The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF), a nonprofit organization that funds ground-breaking, early-stage research on Alzheimer’s disease, has awarded 22 new research grants, totaling more than $3.6 million, to scientists on the cutting edge of discoveries about the disease that affects over five million Americans.

An MIT clinical trial of an Alzheimer’s disease treatment has found that the nutrient cocktail can improve memory in patients with early Alzheimer’s. The results confirm and expand the findings of an earlier trial of the nutritional supplement, which is designed to promote new connections between brain cells.
