Evotec to close Indian chemistry operations

Hamburg, Germany-based Evotec will close its chemistry operations in Thane, India. All chemistry work now will be performed at its Abingdon, U.K., facility, to address to an increasing requirement to operate closer to the principal R&D laboratories of major customers. All project work in Thane will be completed by the end of September, and Evotec (India) Private will then wind down.

Novartis, Biological E partner to deliver affordable vaccines to developing world

Novartis has entered into a development and licensing agreement with Biological E (BioE), a biopharmaceutical company based in India, for two vaccines to protect against typhoid and paratyphoid fevers. The agreement advances the Novartis goal to deliver accessible and affordable vaccines that address unmet medical need in endemic regions.

Avanir Pharmaceuticals and OptiNose have entered into an exclusive North American license agreement for the development and commercialization of OptiNose's novel Breath Powered intranasal delivery system containing low-dose sumatriptan powder to treat acute migraine. If approved, this product would be the first dry-powder nasal delivery form of sumatriptan.

Seattle Genetics, Agensys to co-develop ADC

Seattle Genetics has exercised an option to co-develop an additional antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) under an existing ADC collaboration agreement with Agensys, an affiliate of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma. The ADC, called ASG-15ME, targets the tumor antigen SLITRK6, which is expressed on bladder and lung cancer.
