Brussels-based UCB has initiated C-EARLY, a phase III study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) in combination with methotrexate (MTX) for inducing and sustaining clinical response in adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) not previously treated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).

Biogen Idec, UCB partner in ALS research

The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) has formed a research agreement with Biogen Idec and UCB to investigate the use of an anti-CD40L antibody as a potential therapy for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's or Motor Neuron Disease. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
