Seattle Genetics, Millennium, Ventana collaborate on companion diagnostic test for Adcetris

Seattle Genetics and Millennium, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical, have formed a collaboration with Ventana Medical Systems, a member of the Roche Group, through which Ventana will seek to develop, manufacture and commercialize a molecular companion diagnostic test with the goal of identifying patients who might respond to treatment with Adcetris based on CD30 expression levels in their tissue specimens.

Takeda to acquire URL Pharma

Takeda America Holdings (a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical) has agreed to acquire URL Pharma, a Philadelphia-based specialty pharmaceutical company, for an upfront payment of $800 million and future performance-based contingent earn out payments. URL Pharma will be managed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA of Deerfield, Ill.

Takeda to integrate two subsidiaries in California

Takeda Pharmaceutical will integrate two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Takeda San Diego (TSD) and Takeda San Francisco (TSF) on January 1, 2012. TSD will become the surviving company and change its name to Takeda California (TCAL) the same day. Keith Wilson, current president of TSD, will become the president of the new company.

Takeda to acquire Intellikine for $190 million

Takeda Pharmaceutical and Intellikine have entered into an agreement for Takeda America Holdings to acquire Intellikine by cash. Takeda expects that the transaction will be finalized in January 2012. Under the agreement, Takeda America Holdings will acquire Intellikine for $190 million upfront and up to $120 million in additional potential clinical development milestone payments.

Takeda, Amgen phase III motesanib trial fails

Amgen, Takeda Pharmaceutical, and Millennium, a division of Takeda, announced unfavorable results from the MONET1 pivotal phase III trial evaluating motesanib administered in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin in 1,090 patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The trial did not meet its primary objective of demonstrating an improvement in overall survival.
