GlaxoSmithKline honors healthcare nonprofits with $40,000 IMPACT Awards

GlaxoSmithKline has announced five recipients of its annual GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards. In total, the North Carolina and Philadelphia-area healthcare nonprofit organizations will receive $200,000 in grant funding ($40,000 each) for providing access to healthcare for the underserved in their communities.

CEO of Sanofi designated as new president elect of EFPIA

Viehbacher, CEO of Sanofi, as the new president elect of EFPIA. He will take up the position as of June 2013 for a two year term.

Vertex, GSK partner on phase II all-oral study of VX-135, GSK2336805 for Hep C

Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a global biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Mass., has entered into a non-exclusive agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to conduct a phase II proof-of-concept study of an all-oral regimen for the treatment of hepatitis C containing Vertex's nucleotide analogue HCV polymerase inhibitor VX-135 and GSK's NS5A inhibitor GSK2336805.
