Merck, Pfizer ink alliance on anti-PD-L1

Merck has entered into a global agreement with Pfizer to co-develop and co-commercialize MSB0010718C, an investigational anti-PD-L1 antibody currently in development by Merck as a potential treatment for multiple tumor types to accelerate the two companies’ presence in immuno-oncology.

Horizon Discovery Group acquires Sage Labs for $48M

Horizon Discovery Group, a Cambridge, U.K.-based international life science company supplying research tools and services to organizations engaged in genomics research and the development of personalized medicines, has agreed to acquire Sage Labs, a St. Louis, Mo.-based provider of advanced in vivo transgenic disease models for use in preclinical research, for up to $16 million in cash and up to $32 million through the issue of new ordinary shares.

Sigma-Aldrich (SIAL), a St. Louis, Mo.-based life science and high technology company, has entered into a new gene editing partnership with the University of Michigan (U-M) Medical School's Vector Core. Sigma-Aldrich will provide the Vector Core with Sigma CRISPR technology, experimental design consultation and dedicated gene editing bioinformaticians.

Sigma-Aldrich’s custom manufacturing and services business unit, SAFC, has signed an agreement with South Korea-based CrystalGenomics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, to support the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for next-generation non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).
