Eli Lilly, TVM fund invests in Ixchelsis

TVM Life Science Ventures VII, a collaboration between TVM and Eli Lilly to provide venture capital to the international pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical technology industries, has announced the fund’s second investment in Ixchelsis, a clinical-stage biotechnology startup in the U.K. Ixchelsis plans to develop to proof-of-concept IX-01, an investigational compound, originally discovered at Pfizer’s U.K. R&D site, with the potential to treat the male sexual health indication premature ejaculation.

Pfizer Asia Pacific, GlaxoSmithKline and Siemens are founding members of the A*STAR R&D consortium program Innovative Processing of Specialties and Pharmaceuticals (iPSP). Launched by A*STAR's Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES), the consortium is a platform for pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals industry companies to address costs, regulatory compliance and responsiveness in production and processes to bring drugs to markets.

Astellas Pharma joins SAFE-BioPharma

Astellas Pharma has joined the SAFE-BioPharma Association, a nonprofit industry coalition responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the global SAFE-BioPharma digital identity and signature standard. As a member, Astellas is able to utilize the SAFE-BioPharma standard. It is the first Japanese pharmaceutical company to become a member.

Pfizer announces Zoetis split-off plan

Pfizer intends to split off its remaining interest in Zoetis through an exchange offer. Zoetis, formerly Pfizer's animal health business, completed its initial public offering (IPO) in February 2013. Pfizer shareholders can exchange all, some or none of their shares of Pfizer common stock for shares of Zoetis common stock owned by Pfizer.
