PAREXEL advances early phase research technology

PAREXEL International has enhanced its central nervous system (CNS)
capabilities for clinical development through the implementation of
functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology in its Early Phase
units. This advanced imaging scanning measures hemodynamic response, or
change in blood flow, related to neural activity in the brain or spinal
cord. Through this approach, PAREXEL is able to provide sponsors with
improved testing paradigms for cognitive biomarkers and better understand
the impact of compounds earlier in disease progression.

Survey: Industry using medical imaging metrics to meet study milestones

Boston-based Perceptive Informatics, an eClinical solutions provider and a subsidiary of CRO Parexel International, found in a global survey that over half (54%) of respondents review medical imaging-related study metrics on a regular basis. Of those respondents, 81% use medical imaging metrics as actionable data to inform progress toward the achievement of study milestones. Key performance indicators used by the respondents include the status of site qualification for imaging-based clinical trials, as well as progress of medical image submissions, query responses and radiology reviews.

Survey: Top CROs doubled workforce over past decade

Over the last 10 years, the top nine global CROs have more than doubled their workforce, which now exceeds 72,000 employees, and their revenues have increased at a compound annualized rate of 11% as they increasingly play a larger and more integral role in the drug development infrastructure, according to a new Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO) member survey.
