Omeros unlocks 20% of Class A orphans

Omeros has reported that with its identification of compounds that interact
selectively with each of four additional orphan G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) - GPR19, GPR20, GPR31 and GPR141 - it has now unlocked over 20% of the 77 Class A orphans. GPCRs represent the premier family of drug targets, with more than 30% of currently marketed drugs targeting only 46 GPCRs. There are approximately 120 orphan GPCRs, and Omeros is initially targeting Class A orphan GPCRs.

Omeros has identified compounds that interact selectively with each of four additional orphan G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) - GPR15, GPR39, GPR78 and GPR161. Omeros has now announced that it has unlocked 14 of the 80 Class A orphan GPCRs. GPCRs represent the premier family of drug targets, with more than 30% of currently marketed drugs targeting only 46 GPCRs. There are approximately 120 orphan GPCRs. Omeros is initially targeting Class A orphan GPCRs.

Omeros said it has identified compounds that interact with orphan G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) P2Y8 and OPN4. P2Y8 (also known as P2RY8) is associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), an aggressive cancer of the white blood cells and the most common type of malignancy diagnosed in children.

Omeros advances OMS103HP and OMS302

Omeros is advancing two of its product candidates from its PharmacoSurgery platform: OMS103HP for arthroscopic meniscectomy and OMS302 for intra-ocular lens replacement surgery; both candidates are going into phase III clinical development programs.  Additionally, the candidates have been added to standard irrigation solutions and delivered intra-operatively to the operative site throughout the surgical procedure to preemptively block the molecular-signaling and biochemical cascade caused by surgical trauma and to provide clinical benefits both during and after surgery.

Omeros publishes research on MASP-2 data

Omeros has published research on mannan-binding lectin-associated serine protease-2 (MASP-2) in the April 18, 2011 early online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). Wilhelm Schwaeble, Ph.D., professor of immunology at the University of Leicester and the senior author of the paper, led an international team of researchers who demonstrated that blocking MASP-2 function significantly reduces tissue damage caused by ischemia-reperfusion injury.
