Quintiles, Scottish health boards partner to accelerate research

Quintiles, a fully integrated biopharmaceutical services company, formed a strategic partnership with the four teaching health boards—Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow—in Scotland as part of its Prime Site program to accelerate the development of new and more effective medicines.

Concern as NHS spending on advanced medicines to decline

A new forecast by the Office of Health Economics, for the ABPI, has shown that total National Health Service (NHS) spending on medicines is well under control, while expenditure on innovative branded medicines is actually set to shrink in real terms and as a proportion of the healthcare budget over the next three years.

UK’s DNR to build clinical trials database for diabetes

A new campaign launched by the UK’s Diabetes Research Network (DRN) aims to recruit up to 25,000 diabetes patients over an 18-month period to a ‘consent for approach’ database that should help to accelerate set-up times for clinical trials in the field, according to PharmaTimes.
