Genomic launches breast cancer trial

Genomic Health has launched RxPONDER S1007, a breast cancer clinical trial being led by SWOG, one of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) cancer cooperative groups.  The trial is designed to determine the effect of chemotherapy in breast cancer patients with one to three positive nodes who have a Recurrence Score (RS) result equal to, or less than, 25 as determined by the Oncotype DX breast cancer test.

Innovative paperless clinical trial study highlights time and cost savings

Using interoperable digital identities, digital signatures and cloud computing can accelerate the initiation of a clinical trial and also lower costs, report a group of government and industry cancer researchers. They participated in the phase I of a pilot study that used interoperable digital identities and cloud-based digital signatures to eliminate reliance on paper forms in clinical trials.

The Aptium Oncology Myeloma Consortium (AMyC) is modeled after Aptium’s GI Cancer Consortium, a group launched in 2008 to focus on gastrointestinal cancers.

Massive Breast Cancer Study Aims for More Informed Treatment Decisons

A story in the Chicago Tribune today reports on a new National Cancer Institute (NCI) study planning to enroll over 10,000 women with breast cancer, in order to better understand when the use of chemotherapy is warranted in preventing their tumors from returning after surgery. The study, called TAILORx (Trial Assigning IndividuaLized Options for Treatment Rx) is design to determine whether an individual gene, thought to be associated with the risk of relapse for women with early-stage breast cancer, can be used to aid doctors in choosing treatments with the greatest likelihood of success. The study is sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and coordinated by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG)...
