Soligenix, Harvard University partner to develop next generation anthrax vaccine

Soligenix, a development stage biopharmaceutical company, has initiated a next generation anthrax vaccine development program pursuant to a field-exclusive option agreement with Harvard University to negotiate a license under patent rights that cover prophylactic uses of a modified anthrax toxin protein. Initial development work will be covered pursuant to a previously issued $9.4 million National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) grant enabling development of thermo-stable ricin and anthrax vaccines.

GeoVax receives $3.6 million grant for HIV/AIDS vaccine program

GeoVax Labs, a biopharmaceutical firm developing vaccines to prevent and fight Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections, has received a $3.6 million annual notice of award for the Integrated Preclinical/Clinical AIDS Vaccine Development (IPCAVD) Grant supporting GeoVax's HIV/AIDS vaccine program.

Covance collaborates with Broad Institute, expands drug metabolism services

Covance said that its Seattle-based genomics laboratory will collaborate with the Broad Institute to create genomic resources for an important research model. Covance’s Next-Generation sequencing capabilities will be used to profile microRNA expression in various tissue samples from this model.
