Lilly expects original drugs sales to triple in India

American drug maker Eli Lilly will bet on its original drugs as it aims to triple sales in India over the next five years. Unlike other foreign drug makers, it plans to stay away from acquisition of local firms or branded generics to boost its market share, according to The Economic Times.

FDA approves Lupin’s UltramR ER

Lupin Pharmaceuticals has received final approval from the FDA for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Tramadol Hydrochloride Extended-Release Tablets, 100, 200 and 300 mg strengths. Lupin will begin shipping its Tramadol ERshortly.

Salix expands partnership with Lupin

Morrisville, North Carolina-based Salix Pharmaceuticals licensed a drug delivery technology from Mumbai, India-based Lupin Pharmaceuticals in 2009. Salix uses that technology in its gastrointestinal drug rifaximin, marketed as Xifaxan. Lupin recently granted Salix exclusive worldwide rights, outside India, to use that technology and any technology jointly developed by the companies for all rifaximin products for human use, according to MedCity News
