Thermo Fisher Scientific, a healthcare equipment company, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Life Technologies, a global biotechnology tools company, for $76.00 in cash per fully diluted common share, or approximately $13.6 billion, plus the assumption of net debt at close ($2.2 billion as of year end 2012).

Baxter International and Synovis Life Technologies have reported a definitive agreement for Baxter to acquire Synovis, a provider of biological and mechanical products for soft tissue repair used in a variety of surgical procedures. Life Technologies, GSK ink cancer research agreement

Life Technologies has signed an agreement with GlaxoSmithKline to develop a diagnostic to be used as a companion test with a GSK candidate cancer immunotherapy. Life will develop a qPCR-based molecular diagnostic assay for GSK's MAGE-A3 cancer immunotherapy candidate designed to identify patients likely to benefit from the immunotherapy.
