Clinipace Worldwide, a global digital contract research organization (dCRO), and Paragon Biomedical, a global, full-service CRO, have jointly announced a definitive merger agreement under which Morrisville, N.C.-based Clinipace Worldwide has acquired all outstanding shares of privately-held, Irvine, Calif.-based Paragon and its subsidiaries.

Morrisville, N.C.-based Clinipace Worldwide, a global digital research organization (dCRO), said Prometheus Laboratories, a specialty pharmaceutical and diagnostic company, has awarded it an Oncology Program.  Immediate plans are commencing for two metastatic melanoma studies.

Clinipace Worldwide has named Andrea Schiefer, Ph.D., vice president of European clinical operations and executive director of pharmacovigilance. In this position, Andrea reports directly to Kurt Pfister, chief executive officer of European operations at Clinipace Worldwide, and is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the project management, clinical monitoring and safety groups within the European clinical operations unit at Clinipace Worldwide.

Clinipace secures $15M in Series C financing

Clinipace Worldwide has closed a $15M Series C round of funding led by Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital of San Francisco, CA.  Existing investors, including Hatteras Venture Partners of Durham, NC, and Brook Private Equity Advisors of Boston, MA, also participated in this most recent round of funding.

Plexxikon selects Clinipace to manage trials

Plexxikon, a company focused on the discovery and development of novel small molecule pharmaceuticals to treat human disease, has selected Clinipace Worldwide, a digital CRO, to manage all aspects of four clinical trials comprising a phase I healthy volunteer study, a phase Ib rheumatoid arthritis (RA) study and two phase II oncology studies.
