BioClinica Reports Flat Earnings, Adjusts 2010 EPS Guidance

BioClinica’s first quarter 2010 earnings were flat compared with the same period 2009, with service revenues of $14.7 million. First quarter revenues last year were $14.5 million. Net income was $711,000, or $0.05 per diluted share, compared with $786,000, or $0.05 per diluted share for Q1 2009.

Parexel Releases eClinical Platform for Late-Stage Clinical Trials

Parexel, a CRO, released a new web-based platform to be used in late-phase clinical research to help users meet regulatory guidelines and ensure high quality data. The new product combines the expertise of Parexel’s existing Peri Approval Clinical Excellence (PACE) team with the eClinical capabilities of Perceptive Informatics, Parexel’s technology subsidiary. The platform allows for a variety of eClinical services, such as clinical trial management systems, electronic data capture, randomization and trial supply management, and electronic patient-reported outcomes, to be incorporated in late-phase studies.

New York Hospital Uses Prepaid Cards to Pay Study Participants

The Theresa & Eugene M. Lang Center for Research & Education—the clinical trial and research arm of New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ)—has replaced its paper-check payment system for clinical trial participants. Instead, patients who earn a stipend for participating in a clinical trial receive a Mastercard card preloaded with their allotted funds.
