Alnylamm, GSK collaborate in vaccine production

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals has formed a collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline focused on Alnylam's VaxiRNATM technology for certain GSK vaccine products, including influenza. VaxiRNA is a new RNAi technology for the enhanced production of viruses used in the manufacture of vaccine products. GSK is the first company to form a collaboration accessing this new platform.

Caliper, Pfizer launch platform for drug safety

Caliper Life Sciences, a provider of tools and services for drug
discovery and life sciences research, has launched a new services
offering based on a panel of cellular assays that measure the effects of
drug candidates on functional activity of proteins called kinases involved
in critical cell-signaling pathways. The technology platform and initial
panel of nine assays were developed in collaboration with Pfizer. The new offering, called In-Cell KinaseScreen, is immediately available for compound screening, profiling, and custom assay development services for CDAS' clients, ranging from academia to pharmaceutical companies.

Clarient, a GE Healthcare company, and HistoRxR have signed a definitive agreement to provide pharma services using AQUA technology to their growing lists of pharma clients.  By implementing HistoRx's AQUA technology in Clarient's CLIA laboratory, the two companies will apply their complementary capabilities to serve pharma companies' growing need for biomarker analysis in clinical trials.  Use of tissue biomarkers to characterize a patient's tumor is becoming a crucial element of personalized cancer care.
