Researchers from the Banner Alzheimer's Institute (BAI) have partnered with Novartis in a pioneering medical trial to determine whether two investigational anti-amyloid drugs—an active immunotherapy and an oral medication—can prevent or delay the emergence of symptoms of Alzheimer's in people at particularly high risk for developing the disease at older ages.

NIH adds six clinical sites in Undiagnosed Diseases Network

The NIH has awarded grants to six medical centers around the country to select from the most difficult-to-solve medical cases and together develop effective approaches to diagnose them. The new clinical sites added to the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) will conduct clinical evaluation and scientific investigation in cases that involve patients with prolonged, undiagnosed conditions.

Study finds increased consideration given to sex and gender in research applications

More researchers submitting applications to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) are including sex and gender considerations in their proposals, according to a study published in the journal PLOS ONE. The study was co-authored by Dr. Joy Johnson, scientific director of the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health (IGH).
