BBK Worldwide, a clinical trial marketing firm headquartered in Needham, Mass., and the Alliance for Clinical Research Excellence and Safety (ACRES), a Cambridge, Mass.-based nonprofit, are collaborating to ensure patients are a central part of the organization’s efforts in standards development, one aspect of ACRES’ work in the development of a global system for clinical research.

CDISC, TransCelerate release new standards for diabetes, cardiovascular disease

The Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC), a global nonprofit, and King of Prussia, Pa.-based nonprofit TransCelerate BioPharma have made available therapeutic area standards for diabetes and cardiovascular (CV) disease areas through the Coalition for Accelerating Standards and Therapies (CFAST), a joint initiative of CDISC and the Critical Path Institute (C-Path).

Report: over 6,000 trials conducted in North Carolina since 1999

Working with institutions in Research Triangle Park and throughout North Carolina, U.S. biopharmaceutical research companies have conducted over 6,000 clinical trials of new medicines in the state since 1999, according to a new report by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

U.K. university, hospital, pharmacy collaborate to improve medicines management

The first research collaboration in the U.K. among a hospital, university and community pharmacist is taking place through a project from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust and LloydsPharmacy. The collaboration aims to improve the way patients use their medicines outside hospitals and will be carried out in the newly opened Center for Pharmacy Innovation at the LJMU School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences.
