C3 Jian and Chinese University establish clinical research center

California-based C3 Jian has signed an agreement with the West China School of Stomatology at Sichuan University (“West China”) to create a joint clinical research center to test new oral healthcare products in human clinical trials. It will be located at West China’s facilities in Chengdu, China. The research center will operate under U.S. FDA’s GCP.

Warner to cut 500 jobs

After losing patent protection on their osteoporosis drug Actonel, Ireland-based Warner Chilcott is restructuring its E.U. operations and plans to cut 500 jobs in the process, according to Fierce Pharma. Actonel brought in about 70% of Warner's sales in Western Europe in 2010, and the drug is up against generic competition.

Pieris and Daiichi Sankyo partner to develop Anticalin therapeutics

Germany-based Pieris will collaborate with Japan-based Daiichi Sankyo and sign a licensed agreement under which Pieris will apply its Anticalin scaffold technology to discover novel Anticalins against two Daiichi Sankyo targets. As part of the agreement, Pieris will be responsible for early preclinical development for Anticalin drug candidates, and Daiichi Sankyo will assume responsibility for further development and marketing of the Anticalin compounds.
