U.K. unemployment: the case for optimism

Dr. John Philpott, chief economic adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), told the Yorkshire HR Directors Forum in Leeds on February 29 that even a relatively modest economic recovery in 2012 could see U.K. unemployment stabilize at around the current rate of 8.4%, while a stronger recovery has the potential to result in a sudden sharp fall in the jobless total.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) mourns the loss of board member Edward (“Eddie”) Jay Phillips, who, on April 8, 2011 died of multiple myeloma. Phillips, son of "Dear Abby" and creator of Belvedere Vodka, had battled multiple myeloma for nine years.

It’s the laughter that the staff of site group PMG Research say they will miss the most about Thomas W. Littlejohn III. His was a baritone laugh that could often be heard booming down the hallway at any of PMG’s 11 sites, usually accompanied by knee slapping and, if you were in the room with him, a jolly red face.

And psychiatrists collect more in speaking and consulting fees from pharma companies than doctors in any other specialty.
