RHO awarded contract from National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research

Rho, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based CRO, has renewed an existing federal contract with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), a part of the Health and Human Services and NIH. Rho will provide clinical research operations and management support to the NIDCR and to NIDCR funded clinical research studies from study preparation and initiation through study completion and close-out.

DPx to expand facility in North Carolina, add 488 jobs

DPx, the “umbrella name” for Patheon’s three business units specializing in pharmaceutical services, fine chemicals and proprietary products and technologies, will expand operations in Pitt County, N.C. The company plans to create 488 jobs in Greenville, N.C. by the end of 2019 and invest $159 million to increase the site’s capabilities, as well as modernize the site and develop energy efficiency programs at the facility.

Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD), a Wilmington, N.C.-based CRO, has exercised its option to acquire the remaining minority ownership interest of X-Chem. X-Chem, a biotechnology company based in Waltham, Mass., will continue to operate as a biotechnology company with its entire existing staff, including its management team led by CEO and founder Richard W. Wagner, Ph.D., along with executive management team members Diala Ezzeddine, Ph.D., chief business officer; Matthew Clark, Ph.D., sr. vice president of research; and Lee Babiss as chairman of the board.
