BioNanomatrix changes name to BioNano Genomics

BioNanomatrix has changed its name to BioNano Genomics.  By adopting the new name, the company is communicating its position as a solution provider for genomics researchers who want to fully understand the biology of the genomes at the core of their research.  The change follows the recent establishment of new corporate headquarters in San Diego, the appointment of new leadership, and additional new investment.

Quintiles has named Steven Skolsky global head of its clinical & data operations (CDO) unit, the core of the company’s clinical development division that monitors the clinical conduct at research sites and collects and manages data from thousands of patients in hundreds of clinical trials conducted around the world.

US Army to host pharma industry day for potential contractors

The United States Army will be hosting an industry day in the Hyatt hotel in Newport RI, on October 14, 2011. The purpose of the industry day is to inform pharmaceutical contractors about the BSCAV/Nerve Agent prophylactic contract is to select, develop, and manufacture an FDA-approved drug/biologic to increase survival and decrease incapacitation such that forces can maintain operational effectiveness within acontaminated area following nerve agent exposure, irrespective of nerve agent type. The BSCAV project is indented to provide medical countermeasures against the effects of organophosphorous nerve agent chemical warfare threats. The proponent for this effort is The Medical Identification and Treatment Systems (MITS) Joint Product management office of The Chemical Biological Medical Systems (CBMS) Joint Project management office of the Joint Program executive office for chemical and biological defense (JPEO-CBD).

Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD) has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which it will be acquired by affiliates of The Carlyle Group and Hellman & Friedman in an all-cash transaction valued at $3.9 billion, after which PPD will be a private company.
