Sanofi names senior VP of global services

Sanofi has named Greg Irace, currently president and CEO of Sanofi's US operations, its senior vice president, global services, a newly created role. He will lead the global information systems function, be responsible for shared support functions across all Sanofi businesses in North America and play a key role in the development of a global strategy for shared services. Irace will continue to be a member of the Global Management Committee. He will be based in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

EMA recommends INCIVO for hepatitis C virus

Tibotec Virco-Virology BVBA, part of Janssen Pharmaceutical, reported that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) adopted a positive opinion recommending the approval of INCIVO (telaprevir), a direct acting antiviral (DAA) for the treatment of chronic genotype-1 hepatitis C virus (HCV), in combination with pegylated-interferon and ribavirin, the previously accepted standard of care.
