Creabilis raises $20M in Series B funding

Creabilis, a clinical stage European biotechnology company, has raised $20 million in a Series B funding round led by Abbott Biotech Ventures. Existing investors Neomed and Sofinnova Partners, as well as private Italian investors, joined the round. The new funds will be used to finance the development of the company's first-in-class treatments, including its lead product CT327 to the end of phase II.

PointCross awarded IDIQ contract by FDA

PointCross Life Sciences has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the FDA to provide an integrated off-the-shelf software environment comprising of a hosting repository, visualization and analysis functions, and search and discovery capabilities.  This environment will enable FDA pharmacologists / toxicologist reviewers and statisticians to access, manipulate, and analyze nonclinical regulatory submissions in electronic formats including the CDISC Standard for the Exchange of Nonclinical Data (SEND).  The software will also facilitate search and discovery across multiple studies for signal identification and validation of toxicity findings in order to better support science-based regulatory decision making.

Clinical Research Management (ClinicalRM), a full-service contract research organization providing services for basic and applied research, clinical trials, and regulatory support, was awarded two contracts by the Navy Medical Research Center (NMRC) under its Omnibus III program. The awards are for the provision resources in support of NMRC, including: providing an infrastructure of personnel, materials, equipment, facilities, science, and technology that will sustain an acceptable level of medical research.

ProTip receives ESB translational research prize

ProTip, a company developing medical devices that bring innovative solutions to people suffering from dysfunctions of the larynx, was awarded the ESB Translational Research prize of the European Society for Biomaterials at the ESB annual congress in Dublin, Ireland. This prize, sponsored by the Swiss Society for Biomaterials, is designed to “support scientific efforts in translational research, i.e. scientific activities helping to transform a research idea into a product.”
 
This prize has been awarded for a research program launched by ProTip in 2010, aimed at developing a trachea implant made from a biodegradable microporous polymer and macroporous titanium.
 
“This reward proves that, with high enough focus on relevant and the right research activities, a young firm like ProTip can play an important role in a market as demanding and competitive as that of biomaterials,” said the chairman of ProTip, Maurice Bérenger.
