PharmaNet in collaboration with Abacus International

Wednesday, July 28, 2010 07:48 AM

PharmaNet Development Group, a global contract research organization (CRO), announced a strategic collaboration with Abacus International, one of the largest independent health economic consultancies in Europe.

The strategic collaboration builds on the organizations’ common purpose of supporting the development of research-based evidence throughout the drug/device lifecycle to document a product’s clinical and economic value.

PharmaNet brings to the collaboration its experience in the design and implementation of clinical trials and prospective research studies while Abacus provides focused expertise in health economics, health technology assessment and market access solutions.

“The collaboration will allow PharmaNet and Abacus to support clients in documenting the clinical and economic value of products throughout the entire development process,” commented Jeff Trotter, executive vice president, Phase IV Development, PharmaNet Development Group.

Simon Howard, managing director, Abacus International, added, “Collaborating with PharmaNet will enable us to blend our expertise and understanding of the European Health Technology Assessment (HTA) landscape with PharmaNet’s capabilities in the design and implementation of “real world” research programs that are increasingly demanded by key stakeholders.”

In the design and deployment of patient registries, the organizations will draw on Abacus’s e-registry management system web-based software, thereby equipping clients with an array of services and experience in project management, site management and monitoring, data management and analysis and communications.
