Laboratorio Hidalgo Expands Central Lab in Buenos Aires

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 09:59 AM

Laboratorio Hidalgo, a central laboratory in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has increased its capacity for its clinical trials division with a new facility five minutes from its headquarters and laboratory.

The two-story, 5,382-square-foot building enables the company to expand capacity for project and data management offices, documentation archive and kits manufacturing and logistics.

The building houses a database center, sample reception area for contingencies and meeting rooms, all equipped with technology that provides quality and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

In addition to doubling capacity for project management and kits manufacturing, this opening will permit the lab to increase sample processing.

“Our strategy has always been flexibility in satisfying clinical trials clients’ needs,” said Dr. Elisa Hidalgo, director of the Clinical Trials Division and one of the founders of the lab. “Flexibility demands new technologies and so we need more space for them. The opening of this new site permits the necessary growth to meet our clients’ demands.”

The central lab services include hematology, chemistry, urine, coagulation, serology, endocrinology and cell cryopreservation, among others. It also maintains the sample storage archive in freezers (-20º, -70º and liquid nitrogen).

Accredited since 2005 with ISO standards 15189, in the last nine years Laboratorio Hidalgo has participated in more than 200 clinical trials and has collected samples in 1,000 research sites in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Brazil.
