International CRO CROS NT, which specializes in biometrics services, has acquired Stat‐Tech Services, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based CRO with experience in the medical devices sector. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

CROS NT, based in Italy, currently has operations in the U.K. and Germany. The deal increases its geographical reach to the U.S., while adding critical mass to its operations.

Paolo Morelli, chief executive officer and president of CROS NT, said, “The experience and quality of the Stat‐Tech team will add strong value to CROS NT, adding the important area of medical devices to our portfolio and allowing us to improve our services to our existing U.S. customers by being closer to them.”

Stat‐Tech will operate as a business line within CROS NT, trading as “Stat‐Tech Services, part of CROS NT Group.” The transaction is expected to close later this month.

George DeMuth, a founder of Stat‐Tech and incoming chief operating officer, U.S. operations, said, “This move allows us to provide a broader range of services and additional resources to our existing clients and provides additional opportunities for growth.”

Stat‐Tech Services has been providing biometrics services since 1996 and has supported numerous approvals in medical devices (501(k)s and PMAs), biologics, and pharmaceutical indications.

CROS NT specialized in clinical data services. With over 800 studies completed in a variety of therapeutic areas, CROS NT focuses on biometrics including statistical consultancy, programming and analysis, clinical data management, medical writing, pharmacovigilance and life science technology solution.
