ClinTec, Edinburgh Napier University launch Master’s in international clinical research

Wednesday, May 8, 2013 11:07 AM

ClinTec International, a global full service CRO based in the U.K., and Edinburgh Napier University have launched a Master’s in International Clinical Research and Technology.

The course, scheduled to begin at the end of May 2013, is designed for clinical research professionals. The course will be delivered online on a part time basis through an interactive learning platform, with lectures viewable both live and after the lecture has occurred.

The program has been developed through collaboration between ClinTec International and Edinburgh Napier University, an institution with a proven track record for providing innovative under- and post-graduate international qualifications in clinical research. Taught by experts in the field, from both the university and ClinTec’s own experienced global team, the program adheres to the strictest clinical research regulations and is externally validated by other U.K. higher educational institutions.

Comprised of seven modules, ranging from “Challenges of Operating Clinical Trials” to “Quality and Safety for Clinical Trials,” the course aims to meet the needs of individuals in a variety of roles, from different regions across the world; giving them the expertise they need in order to make strides in the highly competitive global clinical research market. The course adds to ClinTec’s Academy of Clinical Research Excellence (ACRE) program, which aims to provide education and guidance to professionals in the clinical research market and allows current employees of the company gain higher education qualifications in the clinical research field.

“I am delighted to be able to announce the formation of this course in conjunction with Edinburgh Napier University,” said Dr. Rabinder Buttar, CEO and founder of ClinTec. “For the individuals, it will bring enormous personal reward and gain, and will help in their future as they look to build a successful career for themselves in the burgeoning clinical research market. For ClinTec, it is a great opportunity to share the knowledge and experience we have gained as a pioneering clinical research organisation over the past 16 years.”

Professor Dame Joan K. Stringer DBE, principal and vice chancellor, Edinburgh Napier University, said, “This exciting collaboration between Edinburgh Napier University and ClinTec International builds upon the biomedical sciences and educational expertise that exists in Scotland. At Edinburgh Napier University we have a track record of providing innovative worldwide clinical research training. We have an excellent success rate with these programs and now boast in excess of 200 clinical research students all over the world. This innovative program will further develop the portfolio of programs on offer, strengthen the reputation of Edinburgh Napier University and ClinTec International and expand the training opportunities for staff working in this industry.”
