RxAlly, a performance network of 22,000 aligned pharmacies nationwide, has named Peter C. Duran vice president and chief privacy officer.

In his new position, Duran will be responsible for ensuring that RxAlly's privacy practices comply with all applicable local, state, province, county, federal and industry-specific laws and regulations.

Duran joins RxAlly from Medco Health Solutions, a Fortune “40 Pharmacy Benefits Management” company.  During his 15-year tenure with Medco, he was instrumental in building Medco's privacy program, including the processes around HIPAA individual rights, record requests, data use and risk assessments.  Duran was the Privacy SME on implementing changes dictated by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), State Sensitive Drug laws and the designated Caregiver projects.
