Abbott named as one of the 'Best Places to Work in Industry'

Abbott Laboratories was once again named one of the "Best Places to Work in Industry" by The Scientist magazine, ranking No. 14 on the 2012 list. This is the ninth time that Abbott has been on the list since The Scientist first started ranking companies in 2003.

The magazine’s list is based on a detailed survey taken by scientists at life-science companies and research institutions worldwide. The rankings will be included in The Scientist's June issue and online at www.the-scientist.com.

"Science is at the heart of Abbott’s work to improve people’s lives. We strive to create a workplace that values invention, creativity and collaboration, across our diverse health care businesses," said John Leonard, M.D., senior vice president, pharmaceuticals, R&D, Abbott. "We value the recognition from The Scientist magazine as a benchmark that will help us to further cultivate an innovative scientific community at Abbott."

Abbott employees are given opportunities to progress their careers through training, mentoring, networking groups and extensive development programs. Abbott scientists are rewarded through the chairman's awards, president's awards, patent/inventor awards and induction into the prestigious Volwiler Society, which was established in 1985 to recognize the company's most distinguished scientists and engineers.
