TheVisualMD, Sermo partner on web's largest physicians community

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 04:48 PM

Sermo, an online community exclusive to physicians, and TheVisualMD, a producer of comprehensive, visual health content, are teaming up to provide doctors with content, enabling a more dynamic online experience for cross-disciplinary discussion and collaboration on key therapeutic areas and disease states.

Beginning this summer, TheVisualMD will begin distributing video and interactive rich media assets and tools within the Sermo community. The initial partnership will kick off with Sermo health education centers, which will combine member discussion on clinical cases, content from KOLs, leading medical journals and research institutions with rich, visual anatomical education tools that incorporate real data derived from MRI, CT scans and 3D microscopy.

The ultimate goal of the partnership is to enhance physician collaboration through the use and sharing of web based tools and applications.

"Health information to the professional and consumer has not kept pace with the dynamic usage opportunities the internet is offering," said Alexander Tsiaras, CEO and founder of TheVisualMD. "We believe that in partnership with Sermo we can now advance both in content and technology the online conversations of physicians. By offering the Sermo community a rich visual experience, usage of real data and compelling interactive tools we will enhance the profession conversation and learning curve."

The first enhanced Sermo physician education center featuring TheVisualMD content is scheduled to launch in July 2012.
