Cleveland State University wins $1.8 million grant

Cleveland State University was granted $1.78 million by the National Institutes of Health to study African sleeping sickness, a sometimes fatal parasitic disease similar to malaria that has become an endemic in certain regions of sub-Saharan Africa.  

The research is housed under CSU’s Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease. CSU’s Dr. Bibo Li, whose work has been featured in the journal Cell, has made discoveries in sleeping sickness and is a known researcher for the treatment and cure of the disease.
