Quintiles lab earns CAP accreditation

Tuesday, March 1, 2011 08:54 AM

Quintiles’ central laboratory in Marietta, Ga., has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Receiving 15189 accreditation from CAP demonstrates that the site follows best practices in lab-related quality management and can respond to shifts in the healthcare environment. Quintiles aims to have all of its laboratories accredited to the 15189 standard.

“Although the 15189 standard is not currently mandated in the United States, CAP believes that laboratories that strive to be in the top tenth percentile in quality will benefit from seeking this standard,” said Cordelia Sever, former chair of the CAP 15189 committee.
