Do You Continue to Have Pain from Shingles (Postherpetic Neuralgia)?
In most cases, pain from shingles goes away after the rash
heals. Sometimes however, the pain persists - this is a condition
called postherpetic neuralgia. If you are an adult who had shingles
more than 3 months ago but still have pain, you may be eligible to
participate in a clinical research study of an investigational
medication. Study medication and study-related procedures will be
proveded at no cost.
Patient Inclusion Criteria:
- Men or women 18 years or older.
- Experienced pain for at least 3 months after the healing of a
herpes zoster rash.
- Live in the Hampton Roads, VA area.
Patient Exclusion Criteria:
- Patients who have previously not responded to treatment for
postherpetic neuralgia with gabapentin.
- Patients who have severe pain from other causes.
