Trial Information

A Phase I/II Study of VELCADE in Combination with Gemcitabine in Relapsed B-Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) that has relapsed (returned after treatment) or progressed (gotten worse) after treatment with chemotherapy.  The purpose of this study is to determine the highest dose of gemcitabine that can be given in combination with VELCADE (bortezomib) without causing unmanageable side effects.  Another purpose of this study is to evaluate the side effects and effectiveness of the combination of treatment with VELCADE and gemcitabine given on a 21-day day schedule in patients with recurrent lymphoma after standard therapy.  Your participation in this study is expected to last at least three weeks (one cycle of treatment).  If you are tolerating treatment and your medical condition is not getting worse, you will be able to receive additional cycles of treatment.  It is anticipated that most subjects will receive this drug for about four to five months.  After you discontinue treatment, your medical condition will continue to be followed indefinitely.
