Trial Information

A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Dose Finding, Phase II Study to Assess the Safety, Tolerability, and Immunogenicity of Three Dose Levels of ACAM3000 Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) Smallpox Vaccine in Adults with and without Previous Smallpox Vaccination.[249-002]

This is a research study of an investigational new vaccine called ACAM3000 for vaccination against smallpox. The purpose of this study is to see how safe and effective the investigational vaccine ACAM3000 is in trying to prevent the smallpox disease. Participants will be assigned a treatment by chance, 6 out of 7 people will receive the vaccine. You may not benefit from this study. Participation will last about 7 months which includes about 9 clinic visits over the first 2 months of the study.
All study medications and procedures will be provided at no cost.

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

You may be eligible to participate:
-if you are a healthy 33-55 year old
-If you have previously been vaccinated against smallpox
-if you meet additional criteria

You will not be able to participate:
-if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
-if you are HIV positive
-if you have a history of any heart disease
-if you have eczema
