A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controled Trial of Olanzapine Add-On Therapy in the Treatment of Acute Syndromal and Subsyndromal Exacerbations in Bipolar Disorder
We are examining the use of olanzapine (Zyprexa) in the
treatment of patients experiencing increases in symptoms of bipolar
disorder. In this study, patients will be instructied to add
olanzapine or a placebo to their current stable medication regiment
for a period of one week, after which all patients will receive
Zyprexa for one week while being monitored by a psychiatrist using
clinical and laboratory measures.
Those eligible to participate will not be charged for taking
part in the investigation and will receive treatment at no
cost.
