Trial Information
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)Studies in Attention Deficit Disorder: Role of Dopamine
The purpose of this study is to determine if adults with
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have changes in the
brain chemical called dopamine. Participants with and without
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder will be compared in this
research project. Three brain scans known as positron emission
tomographies (PET) will be used to examine the differences in
dopamine levels and dopamine genes in ADHD and non-ADHD
participants. The PET scan will involve injections of substances
used to increase the production of dopamine in the brain. This
project also includes blood draws and questionnaires. Treatment for
ADHD in not included as part of this project. These research-
related procedures are provided at no cost. Participants will also
be reimbursed for their time.
