Cholesterol- Primary Prevention at Low Levels

Dr. Harvey Katzeff is conducting a research study to treat high cholesterol.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are a male aged 55 years of age or older
  • Are a female aged 65 years of age or older

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have a history of serious allergic reactions to medications such as Lipitor, Mevacor, Zocor (also known as "statins")
  • Have prior history of illnesses such as unstable chest pain, stroke or heart attack
  • Are female and are using postmenopausal oral hormone replacement therapy
  • Have uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Have a history of alcohol or drug abuse within the past 1 year
  • Have a chronic inflammatory condition such as arthritis, lupus or inflammatory bowel disease
