Pilot Study of a 3d Motion Device- Feasibility Assessment in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease and Friedreich’s Ataxia

Purpose

This study includes the use of a 3D motion device that measures movement in three directions. It is being used as part of this research study to find out if it accurately tracks motion so it can be used in other ataxia research trials in the future.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Adults (≥18 years old at study entry) with a clinical diagnosis of FRDA or Parkinson's disease will be eligible to participate in this study
  • The subjects need to be ambulatory and capable of performing the T25FW
  • The healthy volunteer subjects will be selected to match the FRDA subjects for gender, age, height and weight
  • The healthy volunteers will be asked to perform a 100 foot walk
