26 week study Comparing Advair to Flovent in Patients with Asthma

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness and safety of Advair to Flovent, 2 FDA approved medications that are already on the market for the treatment of asthma.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 12+ with documented Asthma diagnosis for at least 1 year
  • Asthma exacerbation requiring hospitalization (>24hr stay) or treatment with corticosteroid
  • Must be taking 1 of the following treatments:
    • Inhaled Corticosteroid or Inhaled Corticosteroid combination for at least 4 weeks
    • Daily rescue medication in the 4weeks and asthma symptoms not well controlled

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • History of smoking more than10 pack years
  • History of COPD or other respiratory disease
  • More than 4 exacerbations in last 12 months
  • Currently taking Beta blockers
