Research Study Summary

A Washington University study on walking seeks volunteers with and without diabetes.

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to look at differences in walking between groups of people with and without diabetes. Participation in this study will take about 4 hours. Study procedures include walking analysis, muscle strength and sensation testing, measurement of blood pressure, and range of motion test. Benefits and risks will be discussed as part of the informed consent process. Up to $50 is provided for time and effort for completing the entire study.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • 1. Type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • 2. No history of diabetes

Patient Exclusion Criteria:

  • 1. Open foot sores
  • 2. Weight greater than 400 pounds
